Jeff Davis FD Dry Suit Class

On February 21st members of the Jeff Davis County FD Dive Rescue Team participated in a SDI Dry Suit Class. The members were: Wayne Feller, Allen Crawford, Edwin Williams, Chuck Thompson and Ashley Tyree, team Training Officer. “These guys are learning to dive in the latest innovation in dry suit technology, and these dry suits will allow our dive team to conduct diving operations in water temperatures below 60 degrees.” The dive team has been working close with the recovery of retired fire Chief Porter of Coffee County, who went missing before Christmas of this past year in the Oconee River. Currently, the dive team is looking to purchase more dive equipment to support search and recovery efforts in the future. The dive team also assists the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Department, Hazlehurst Police Department and other county and state public service agencies. The dive team will be conducting further Public Safety training in April of this year. The dive team would like to thank everyone in the community who has supported their efforts.
