White’s Fusion Dry Suits…More Protection for Public Safety Dive Teams

During the past couple of months, the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis Public Safety dive team has been called upon for numerous search and recovery dives in frigid waters. The divers comfortably worked without risk of hypothermia because they were wearing their White’s Fusion dry suits. Another pubic safety dive team, Milan Fire Department PSD team, has acquired two White’s Fusion dry suits and training from Waterdog Scuba. These suits will allow both teams to respond to more calls with added protection against cold water and hazardous materials in the water.

Have you ever thought of taking your dive training to a new level. Why not use your training to help assist your local public safety agency. You may ask, what is a Public Safety Diver? A Public Safety Diver’s mission is to provide assistance in locating, recovering and preserving evidence, locating and recovering drowning victims, conducting underwater and other covert reconnaissance operations for federal, state and local public safety departments.

We will be hosting an ERDi Public Safety Diver Class in 2010. If you think you might be interested please contact me. ERDi is one of the largest public safety dive training agencies in the country. If you every thought you might be interested in Public Safety Diving this would be a good place to start. Buck Buchanan, an ERDi instructor will be putting on a workshop for vehicle recovery. The cost is $50 per person. If you currently work with a Public Safety Agency contact me for special pricing. We have room for 24 divers. The workshop will take place on Dec. 5th in Hazlehurst.

Training that simulates as much as possible, real situations to give the candidate a real understanding of how it happens in the real world. This workshop will be fun, informative and provide a true opportunity to learn with the leaders in public safety diving.

Topics: Safety, hasty salvage, rigging, scene size up for PSD..This is 16 hours of hand’s on training.

ERDi training is not for everyone, candidates must be, adventurous and willing to get involved.
ERDi meets NFPA guidelines.
ERDi dive training will bring you to a level where hazardous situations are dealt with as the norm.
You’ll learn practices and procedures used by emergency services world wide.

We were thrilled to serve 48 people at the Low Country Boil and award our Underwater Hunters. Thanks to Chad P. and Ashley for all their hard work!
